With covid plummeting to its twilight years and a soul pining for some life detox; a vacation was an obvious epiphany. So, in the spring of 2022, we decided to visit the magical island of Maldives and live an opulent dream amidst its pristine beaches, beautiful corals, and exquisite marine life.

Where we stayed

Maldivian archipelago comprises 1000s of islands yet only 187 of them are inhabited. Since we had a toddler we decided to opt for an island nearer to the airport. This saved time and money for faraway islands require an insanely expensive seaplane transfer. Mind you, island resorts in the Maldives are generally on the expensive side.

As we were looking for a beach and a water bungalow stay, we decided to book the resort via an agency called Thrillophilla. Subsequently, we got a fair deal for 3 nights and 4 days at Adaaran Club Rannalhi in the Maldives with a full-board menu. Again, booking a full board is cheaper than opting for otherwise. You get unlimited food and drinks (12 am-12 pm) throughout the days of your stay.

A forty-five-minute boat ride from the airport, Rannalhi is a quaint little island in the Maldives that housed us for 4 days. Besides, the deal included both beach villa and water bungalow options, which was fantastic. We got to experience both the land and water stay in this tropical paradise.

And, when in the Maldives, it is a MUST to stay in the water Bungalows. They provide a breathtaking view of the ocean and its stunning aquatic life. Isn’t it cool to see colorful fishes swimming beneath your room and maybe wading into the turquoise blue waters at your whims?

What we did

If you are rich enough you can island hop and enjoy the luxury of every island resort in the Maldives. However, we did nothing of that sort and just chilled the entire 4 days with unlimited food and drinks.

Adraan Club in the Maldives had so many island activities like scuba, snorkelling, paddling, shark/dolphin watching, etc. As the waters are crystal clear we didn’t feel the need to snorkel or scuba. You can see the marine life with your naked eye swimming right next to you. (Also, we had done scuba in Jordan, hence the novelty of it had a bit waned)

As it was Kiran’s birthday, I planned a surprise sunset boat ride which was well orchestrated by the team. They also threw in a surprise candlelight dinner on the last day of our stay which was very sweet of them.

Therefore, I had a good time flaunting my bikini, getting tanned, dancing, and drinking to my heart’s content on this beautiful island of the Maldives

What we feel

For us, Maldives was more like a lavish vacation, a pause from the insanity of life, and a magnificent memory of a lifetime. Also, we think, the Maldives is a must-visit tropical island and a perfect getaway to just chill, relax, and get pampered by the ocean resorts. The beaches and corals in the Maldives are so gorgeous that they swipe you off your feet and make you fall in love with a heart’s beat. Overall, it’s an island nation that exudes love and happiness in hues of blue and white!
